There are basically two types of running that you can do and they are indoor and outdoor. You can lose weight running using either of these but they both have their stories to tell.

Firstly outdoors running is either on grass which is better for your legs and feet and less likely to cause injury or road running which if you haven’t got the correct footwear can cause injury, Either one can be cold and lonely and if you are like me they are just plain boring and result in loss of interest in some people.

Running indoors on the other hand is both warmer and more pleasant and you can talk to others as you are running. You can either run at home on a treadmill or at the local gym or health centre and the main plus of this is that most of the modern treadmills are cushioned to prevent the constant load being placed on the legs and feet by running on a hard surface. If you have ever run on a treadmill and then run on the road outdoors you will know exactly what I mean.

Another plus to the treadmill is that if it is in your gym or health centre there are trained professionals there to guide you on what you need to be doing in order to lose weight running. By exerting yourself like this doing cardiovascular exercise you will sweat and sweat a lot, this is the body detoxifying itself and by drinking more fresh water you are in fact flushing out the impurities in the body and helping it.

The act of physical exercise will also have the effect of increasing the oxygen level in your body including the rain and other organs which will make you more alert throughout the day and you will feel like you have so much energy too. This is because the metabolism has increased in your body and that is the speed at which the body uses energy produced from food, and this increase in the metabolism is what will help you lose lbs of body weight over the weeks and results in healthy fat loss which is what you need.

You must however undertake regular exercise for this to be any good to your body and if you do want to lose weight running then you must make the time to regularly exercise in this way even 20 or so minutes a day is good for you in the long term. Today’s lifestyle is fast paced and doesn’t really set time aside for exercising but if managed right there is always time somewhere to put in some time for running.

The overall health benefits of losing lbs of your body weight are so overwhelming in the form of heart disease and obesity that you simply cannot ignore it and regular cardiovascular exercising like running will help you lose weight as well as be less likely to suffer from obesity and heart problems, not necessarily now but when you reach an older age, all those years of bad health and neglect will show through in other health related ways.

There are obviously lots of other ways to lose lbs but if you are considering the question does running lose weight then the answer is emphatically yes and it does a whole lot more too.

Are There Effective Weight Loss Pills With No Side Effects?

Despite the bad publicity and warnings of doctors regarding diet pills many people still wonder of the dangers of weight loss pills and want to know if there are effective weight loss pills without the horrible side effects.

Since people don’t want to wait and lose weight naturally without pills many resort to the use of diet pills. It was in the fifties that doctors began prescribing these drugs for losing weight. They worked by increasing a chemical called serotonin which made the brain believe the stomach was full and also increase a persons metabolic rate.

These effects vary depending on your current health and are minimized with the consultation of a doctor.

Studies also show that those who try to stop can often times have withdrawal symptoms not to mention the gaining of weight back. This leads to the need to constantly have to be on the drug which increases your risks.

Most people with type 2 diabetes struggle with their weight. And chances are, your doctor has given you little or no guidance on how to shed those extra pounds. But doing it will likely make your blood sugar easier to control and can lower your blood pressure and cholesterol, too. In many cases, doctors will allow patients who lose a significant amount of weight to cut back on—or eliminate—some of their medications. The best way to lighten your load? Steer clear of the hype and stick to proven strategies.

Research from Indiana University in Indianapolis shows that most people think they have to drop 50 to 100 pounds to be “successful” at weight loss—a belief that sets them up for failure. Instead, start with a reasonable goal, like losing 10 pounds. Doctors say that kind of moderate weight loss still has a beneficial effect on diabetes—and if you reach that goal, you’ll have the drive to lose 10 more pounds!

2.Know your Body Mass Index (BMI).

To find out whether your body weight falls within the range of normal, overweight, or obese, consult a BMI table or an online BMI calculator. If you’re good with numbers, whip out a pencil and paper and run through the formula presented on page 254 (see Calculating Your Body Mass Index). If your BMI is less than 25, your weight is normal. If your BMI is at least 25 but less than 30, you’re overweight. If your BMI is 30 or above, you’re considered obese.

Dieting with a buddy provides more than support—it can help you lose more weight. That’s what a recent Brown University study of 109 people and their dieting partners found. Those with a motivated pal lost nearly twice as much weight as those who dieted solo. Having someone within walking distance can be an added bonus. Find three neighbors and announce your weight-loss intentions. Chances are they’ll have some weight to lose as well.

When researchers at Columbia University in New York assigned 413 overweight and obese men and women to either a self-help program in which they met twice with a nutritionist and then followed a program on their own or Weight Watchers, after two years those going to Weight Watchers lost more than those going it alone. You don’t have to join Weight Watchers or other commercial weight-loss programs; you can also check local community centers, churches, or hospitals for weight-control programs or support groups.

People who exercise as well as cut calories have an easier time losing weight and keeping it off than people who just cut calories. Burning an extra 250 calories a day—about the amount used in a brisk 45-minute walk—lops off about 26 pounds a year, as long as you don’t replace those calories with food.

Fiber helps you stay full, and a good way to get a healthy dose is to eat a breakfast cereal that contains at least 5 grams of fiber per serving. Breakfast does more than provide fiber, though. Studies show that eating breakfast helps you eat less food later in the day—and consume fewer total calories.

You can shave off just one pound a week—or even two pounds a month—by making small adjustments in your eating and physical activity. Don’t let fad diet advertisements dazzle you with “miracle” plans in which you can lose 100 pounds in two months. Researchers say that people who achieve weight loss in such programs typically gain back most or all of the weight within five years. You’re far better off to learn how to make the lifestyle changes that will keep the weight off permanently, even if it means slower weight loss. What’s more, crash diets that deprive you of essential nutrients can be very dangerous. If you need guidance, enlist the assistance of your doctor, registered dietitian, or a reputable weight loss program such as Weight Watchers.

8.Ask a registered dietitian to design an eating plan for you.

It may not even seem like a weight-loss plan if she integrates your favorite foods! A registered dietitian is trained to help you set reasonable calorie goals and make sure that you’re getting the vitamins and minerals you need to help you manage your diabetes.

9.Keep a food diary for five days.

Log everything you eat and drink, even if it’s just water, a bite of ice cream, or a breath mint. Your entries should include the time of day, size and number of servings, calories (a calorie-counting paperback book will help), what emotions you were feeling at the time, or any other circumstances that happened just before you ate. Food diaries are eye-openers for many people because so many of us eat without thinking about it. Review your food diary with your registered dietitian; she’ll help you identify situations or emotions that may cause you to overeat. These diaries can also be great tools for managing diabetes because they’ll help you remember what you ate that sent your blood sugar soaring, and what keeps you on an even keel.

Losing weight can trigger bone loss, so if you’re a woman, make sure you’re supplementing with 500 to 600 milligrams of calcium twice a day. Choose a calcium supplement that also contains vitamin D.

how can i get over this weight-loss hump?

i’m a 44 year old man with a lot of stamina, a strong heart, and a burning desire to get down to my target weight of 175 pounds by the end of may ’07.

now at 240 lbs., i have lost 40 pounds in just over 4 months, simply by walking nearly every evening for 60 to 90 minutes, and by cutting some — just some — of the bad food from my diet. fewer pepsis, less dressing on salads, tons more fresh fruit and water.

but i’ve hit a wall. can’t get under 240 pounds. i want to know any tips to start that stuff coming off again, and quickly. how much will adding anaerobic exercise (lifting weights) speed up the process? how about the alternative i’d prefer (because of the cost and ease of use): buying a heavy bag and hitting it for 20 minutes per night before or after my walks (which sometimes include some intervals of running).

Aside from cutting out ALL sodas, diet included, limiting your intake of processed foods and replacing them with fresh foods and drinking at least 64 ounces of water every day…adding weight training will increase muscle mass (although might cause you to gain weight but you need to start measuring inches when trying to lose fat). Muscle mass burns more calories while you’re sleeping so pump the iron if you can. Hitting the bag is great exercise, too.

To get out of your slump, up your water intake to 108 oz. a day; this is hard, but it helps a lot. Also, I’d HIGHLY recommend doing a food diary like http://www.myfooddiary.com It’s proven that people who track what they eat/drink lose weight and keep it off long term vs. people who don’t. You’d be amazed at how many calories you are probably taking in that you don’t realize. Also on MyFoodDiary.com many of the dieters there have great tips for getting out of a plateau, such as eating your ‘weight loss’ calorie allowance for a few days and then eating your ‘maintenance calories’ for 2 days and then going back to your ‘weight loss’ allowance. Keeps your body from thinking you’re starving it to death, thus making sure it doesn’t hold on to fat for dear life.

Also understand that losing weight and eating healthy is a lifestyle that you must maintain your entire life. You really have to cut the bad food out and save it for special occasions or treats now and then.

Are these Nintendo DS games fun?

Okay, So I’m asking for a DS Lite for Christmas, and I’ll get a few games…. I made a list of games that look interesting & fun. I’m not planning on asking for ALL of them, but I put down the ones that looked the best.

You’re a girl I take it, so I’ll try not to mini-review the games that you’ve picked out too harshly. It’s not that they are bad games mind you, I’m just a guy with different gaming interests. I will try to help you decide nonetheless.

I play a lot of games and keep up on the news about new games being made every day, but I’ve never even heard of Burger Island. Games so low on the radar that they don’t even get talked about usually aren’t worth your money, but I could be wrong.

Mario Party games are a decent bet that you’ll be entertained for the first few games, but I dunno if you’ll make it a habit of playing it.

Pictoimage could just as easily be played without a DS. It’s charades in videogame form as far as I can tell.

I won’t tell you not to pick any of these games up, but from what I’ve heard there’s not much content to these games. They do what the title tells you I suppose, so if you’re sold on those ideas, give them a try.

It’s essentially a workout routine on your DS, and not really a game. If you’re wanting to learn a bit about Yoga, it might be worth checking out.

You can find this game for free on the PC I think, so you’re better off asking for something you can’t get online.

Essentially the same thing as the Let’s Yoga game. The game gives you a list of activities to do, but it won’t know if you’re actually doing them. Not long ago, I baught My Word Coach to see if it was any good, and it does exactly what the title implies. Give it a shot if weight loss is something you’re intrested in.

Again, this is another game I’ve never even seen or heard of. It could be fun for you, but I’d suggest one of the other games over this just in case.

I’ve heard good things about this series. Try it.
